ISO 14001 is about the environment. It actually focuses on the the
effective management of the environment. And the success of the system
is measured by the impact on the environment. Most manufacturing or
petroleum companies are moving or have moved towards this system because
it helps them to organize and identify ways to minimize impact, measure
progress and move towards continual improvement. This does include the
process to make their product, i.e oil ,electricity, etc. but if a
manufacturing plant decides to renovate and create a green building,
they are moving towards that continual improvement goal.

Lauren,
Are you sure you mean ISO 14001? That is a environmental management
system against which manufacturing PROCESSES are measured. I know this
because my husband is a certified auditor engaged in the audit of
manufacturing plants for ISO 14001 certification.
If you want a list of manufacturers who are ISO 14001 certified, I
can help - but this really doesn't have to do with BUILDING operations
and maintenance. I.E. it doesn't deal with whether or not they use
recycled hand towels in their bathrooms (as an example).
And ISO 9001, on the other hand, is a quality management system for
ensuring quality in managing building and/or business practices which
impact the environment (recycling used copier paper[business],
minimizing water waste in building operations[building], etc).
I think Steelcase has an ISO 9001 certified business practice. This
would mean their business operations practices follow ISO standards. I
could probably find out who has an ISO 9001 certified EMS for building
operations if this sounds like a fit.
