This may be a little off topic, but I figure with all the wealth of
knowledge on this list, someone may be able to help me.
I am diggin out the side of a hill to make a simple shed, with a single
sloped roof that "roughly" follows the contour of the existing hillside
(at leas the the slope direction will be the same J. I understand all
the basic principles and components of a green roof system. I need help
with the the size and spacing of structural members.
I want to do a building that is 20' by 30'. I am going to use an EPDM
pond liner on the roof, and maybe six inches of soil. I have a bunch
of 2x12's available to me that came out of the flooring for an old
building. I was planning on using these for my roof. I am planning on
using pressure treated posts and beams.
I know a metal roof would be much simpler, but the idea here is to blend
in with the exisiting environs etc. For now the front will be open. I
need at least one "bay" that is 12'-13' wide so I can fit my dozer in.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
