Biggreen,

The Society of Building Science Educators is organizing a summit on carbon
neutral design here at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Our goal is to
assemble a list of buildings that would be the subject of in-depth case
studies- seeking insights that can be shared on the process of designing and
building buildings with little or no carbon footprint, as described by the 2030
Challenge.

We are seeking recent buildings that may or may not be well known, but that make
radical strides in integrated design and hopefully have good performance data
that could be made publicly available. We have two basic categories to fill:
housing that deals with issues of affordability and larger
commercial/institutional buildings with public access. We are looking for
recommendations in all climates.

Being in Wisconsin, our home favorite as an example of what we are looking for
is the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center. This LEED Platinum building received an
innovation credit for 'carbon neutral operations,' which expands the scope of
carbon neutrality out beyond the building. We don't expect to find many
buildings that are this aggressive, but do expect that there are many recent
buildings that are pushing hard in this direction.

Thanks for any suggestions! Please suggest a contact person as well as the
project.

Sincerely,
Jim Wasley, AIA, LEED AP
