Dear Jim,
The Vauban district of Freiburg has a development of residential townhouses
that have been built in the passive-house style. This allows them to keep
indoor climates comfortable using 15% of the energy of a traditional
dwelling unit. In addition, they have photo-voltaic paneled roofs which
produce enough electricity to supply the homes with all of their needs and
even sell some back to the utility.
See a short case study on them here:

Kind regards,
Joe
