Entry Level Sustainable Design Research Assistant/Architect
Sasaki Associates, Inc., an international award winning planning and
design firm and winner of the ASLA and Zweigwhite 2007 "Best Firm To Work
For" awards is seeking a Junior Level Sustainable Design Research
Assistant/Architect with 1-3 years experience; candidate must have
interest in sustainable design and LEED certification process. This
position is full time, 50% of time will be on sustainable design research
and support for multiple active projects; 50% of time will be on
architecture and interior design project work as part of a team focused on
sustainability.
Responsibilities will include advising Sasaki's architects on a range of
topics including but not limited to daylighting, natural ventilation,
external shading and building envelopes. Candidate should feel comfortable
performing "back of the envelope" calculations in order to quickly assess
various aspects of a building. Candidate will also be responsible for
researching and subsequently recommending "green" technologies and
materials for a variety of project types. Candidate may also be asked to
work on LEED documentation, and will be expected to take the LEED-NC exam
if he or she is not already an accredited professional.
Strong technical background, communication (oral and written) and graphic
skills are required. A masters degree in engineering or architecture with
a building technology focus is strongly preferred. LEED AP and experience
with programs such as Ecotect, Revit, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Adobe CS, and
Microsoft Excel is also a plus.
