Big Green: waterless urinal experience

About 2-3 years ago NYSERDA installed a waterless urinal.  We started with
replaceable cartridges, but quickly graduated to a life time cartridge.
The first one lasted about six months before problems occurred.  The
solution, literally and figuratively, was a product called Bubba, according
to the facility manager.  When that didn't work, the supplier provided a
second life time cartridge.  I think it lasted close to a year, but
required at least monthly maintenance.  For the last month, our waterless
urinal has sported an "out of order" sign because the drain pipe was so
blocked off due to crystallization that the urine puddled in the bowl
before slowly draining.  We are now looking at low-flow urinals.
