Big Green: pioneers of green building--who are they?

I can't help but think there are many people associated with green building who were influenced by, and I know I'm dating myself, 
the likes of Stewart Brand and his Whole Earth Catalog?  That was where I learned about Bucky Fuller, 
Paolo Soleri, Frank Lloyd Wright, Sim van der Ryn (sp?), etc. (not to mention a whole lot of other stuff)  ;-)
