The Cascadia chapter tracks projects that have achieved specific
prerequisites, however no project has yet completed the living building
challenge in full. There's a lot of buildings in process that are
striving to meet it, though.

See also Cascadia's new challenge/ competition: to redesign the
composting toilet. Jason McLennan announced this at Living Future 08,
but I don't see anything on the website yet.

Challenge

Hello all,

The Living Building Challenge:
http://www.cascadiagbc.org/lbc

Their major tagline, "no credits, just prerequistes" refers to LEED
credit 'points'. With this rating system, there are no levels: not
what you are going to do.... but what you did not less bad.... but good.
A summary pdf of the Challenge.

http://www.cascadiagbc.org/lbc/Lb-challenge-v1-2

This is beyond LEED and extremely cutting edge. It addresses the
challenges now that will require almost all buildings in 2030 to be
built to.

I love it, but don't know enough about it (and I feel like I should!).
I remember hearing lots about it years ago at GreenBuild, but haven't
really looked into much. It appears to be less expensive than LEED,
seems new and untested however. Is anyone aware of case study buildings
that measured up? How does it relate to USGBC (licensed? Reviewed?)?
Or does anyone have reflective thoughts on the process and
certification?
