Big Green: Green Roofs

My understanding is that Greenroofs offer a lot of benefits- including
stormwater retention, increased lifespan for roofing membrane,
evaporative cooling from plants in the summer, absorbtion of air
pollutants.
However I have never understood that a green roof has a thermal
insulation advantage.

cheers,
