Lisa,
I just completed a LEED -EB project and had the same exact question! I
did exactly what you have proposed, recording percentages by weight for
plastic, glass and metal in the waste audit and then extrapolating for
weight and using the percentages of glass, plastic and metal for the
template table in MR 5. If you do this, upload a memo along with all the
other documents explaining what you have done.
The project earned the MR5 credit and also an exemplary performance
credit for recycling.

Subject: Big Green: EB 2.0 Credit 5 Recycling Help
All,
I am looking for some guidance on the reporting requirements for tenant
recycling under EB 2.0. MR Credit 5. I have checked the CIR's, and
don't find this addressed.
In most of Southern CA our recyclables are comingled in one bin, not
separated by type of material in separate bins. The haulers can only
report the total tonnage as our recycling is picked up along with the
others on the route, consolidated, then taken to a MRF for separation
and bailing.
How do you go about reporting the breakdown by type of material as
required on the letter template? Do you go back to the waste audit for
the original percentages and then extrapolate the percentages during the
performance period from that?
Any successful strategies appreciated!
