Good afternoon, Sandra.
Any use of copper will not negatively affect your LLEED project. There is a copper reduction credit in the GGHC (MR 10), but it is unlikely that credit will find its way into LEED for HealthCare if ever released.
The BNIM elements group did a roofing study for the DNR office building in KC that had a fairly illuminating discussion of copper. If you 'd like copied, please let me know.

Subject: Big Green: Lead-Coated Copper Gutters and Downspouts - LEED?

I am looking for information on whether Lead-Coated Copper Gutters and Downspouts will negatively affect our LEED certification (going for LEED silver). I have found information about contamination of a child in Boston that lead them to ban the use of LCC on their municipal buildings and a few recommendations to not use the product (and I agree) but I cannot find a standing regulation against the product's use. I need to present information/articles showing that it would be more sensible and environmentally friendly to use zinc coated copper or another more environmentally friendly coating for the gutters/downspouts/conductor heads on a project that is under construction in Virginia.

Thank you,
Sandra
